Introduction
Jeroid is a fintech platform that enables users to trade cryptocurrencies, exchange gift cards, and make digital payments. With a growing user base, the company needed a redesigned mobile app that felt trustworthy, modern, and easy to navigate.
Challenges
There was frequent back-and-forth with stakeholders who wanted to replicate features from other platforms that didn’t align with Jeroid’s goals. Since they weren’t familiar with the technical implications, I had to clearly communicate design decisions and refocus priorities on features that truly added value.
Process
Research & Competitive Analysis: Reviewed Jeroid’s existing app and compared it with other fintech and crypto trading platforms. This helped me identify industry best practices, as well as gaps in competitors’ designs that Jeroid could improve on.
Wireframing: Streamlined user journeys for buying/selling crypto, gift card exchange, and payments to reduce unnecessary steps.
UI Design: Developed a modern, minimal visual style with clear hierarchy, dark mode preference, and intuitive icons to build user trust.
Prototyping & Handoff: Created interactive prototypes and worked closely with developers to ensure smooth implementation.
Problem Statement
Users needs to easily trade crypto and gift cards on a reliable platform because existing apps feel confusing, cluttered, and don’t provide enough transparency on transaction status, making them anxious.
Solution
I redesigned the Jeroid mobile app to provide a cleaner, more intuitive user experience. The new design simplifies user flows, introduces visual consistency, and creates a trustworthy look and feel that aligns with fintech industry standards.
Outcome
The redesign supported Jeroid’s growth and adoption across Africa, reflected in the platform’s reported metrics:
$10,000,000+ monthly trading volume
200,000+ registered users
120,000+ active users
200,000+ app installations

Key Takeaways
This redesign showed me the importance of balancing stakeholder demands with actual user needs. While stakeholders wanted feature-heavy parity with competitors, research showed users primarily valued clarity, speed, and trust. By focusing on those, the design not only simplified the app but also improved user confidence.
